Nike held another of their special pop-up events that ran over a 6 week period around Europe in a surreal pink dome! Taking in the cities Amsterdam, Milan, Paris, Barcelona and London, Nike showcased their new Flyknit Lunar1+ running shoes in a bespoke pink element dome. The dome was created so people could come in and experience the Flynknit shoe before they actually steam the shoes onto your feet, before you go off for a run!. As the Nike dome is completely see through the lighting came into its own during the night events, glowing a ethereal pink at the iconic locations. The 36ft dome was a complete success and really was the talking point as it seemed to land in the heart of every city before disappearing into thin air.

“Got to Dance” Dance domes get BIGGER!

Got to Dance has reached its forth year in a row. For the last three years Element Domes provided Princess Productions and Sky television with its event production expertise. The auditions for the show take place in the specially built Dance Domes and are open to all dance acts of any age, style or size. This year however was to be a little different in a big way! The 120ft (37m) dome is the biggest touring dome structure in the world and it landed right in the middle of London on Clapham common for what was to be the dance domes best year. The dome production village consisted of the ‘welcome and registration dome’, the ‘practice and holding dome’, the ‘Davina dome’, the ‘stage walk dome’, the ‘green room’ and last but not least the ‘Dance dome’.

Using the bigger Dance dome a larger participating crowd could surround the stage, larger lighting rig could be suspended from the ceiling and more cameras could capture the amazing action.

The lovely Davina McCall will once again be resuming hosting duties, with new Judge on the block; JLS Star Aston Merrygold who will be joining returning judges Kimberly Wyatt and Ashley Banjo.

Brainwave 2012 with Element domes

Brainwave 2012 was a huge success – over 4,000 people visited NETPark to experience its summer science festival which took place over three days, in Sedgefield County Durham. The event saw over 270 school pupils from year 6 & 7 attend the ‘school day’ on Friday 13th and over 2,700 people attending on the public days on Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th July 2012.

Element domes provided a complete black out dome in which seminars were held to its captive audience. The dome created the perfect place for the children to be educated in science and technology in a fully control environment. The futuristic structure looked fitted perfectly in the beautiful landscape and reminded people of a mini eden project. Our crew were praised in the speed and professional approach that was used in such a delicate location.

Dell dome at beach break live 2012

Element domes have once again been contracted by computer giant Dell to produce a dome setup to host a free Internet café at Beach Break Live. The Dell Dome will be hosted at the event that took place in South Wales from June 14-18. Dell is headline sponsoring the festival and has engaged element domes for the second year running. The Dell Dome had 24 hard-wired laptops which were provided and maintained by sevens7 IT. These were available for students to use to check their exam results and keep up to date with social networks throughout the weekend. An uninterrupted service, delivering 20mbps of bandwidth, was provided by using two satellite systems that run simultaneously via a load balancer, meaning that if one dish were to fail the other would take over and ensure a seamless service. The weather proved to be typical Uk festival weather…. wet and windy! Most structures took a battering and some even ended up in tatters and on the muddy ground. The ED 11m dome did not move an inch and became one place that people could take refuge from mother nature .

Eco Velocity Dome

The first ever EcoVelocity Low-Carbon Motor Show was held at Battersea Power station in September.

The event organised by The Metro in association with EDF Energy was a resounding success. The event saw thousands of Eco Car enthusiasts fill the area around the iconic power station.

Element domes built an 11m dome in which RFID created an immersive AV experience.

6 Funktion-One Resolution 1.5s speakers were used around the edge of the dome to create an ambisonic playback system. The system was used to playback stereo audio panned left and right around the rig creating a surreal experience.

Got to Dance fireworks

The Got to dance dome tour has come to an end with fantastic results. The finals will be broadcast live in February from Olympia in London. Watch closely as another dancing sensation is discovered giving them the chance to change their lives!

Corona beer dome in London!

A pop-up beer garden has been built on the South Bank by Element domes for Corona and Sketch Events.
‘Corona Extra Summer’ looks like an igloo from the outside but boasts a tropical beer garden within. With music, warm summer temperatures and the beer flowing it really felt you were in a far flung location.
The drink firm behind the stunt says it offers “freedom from the hustle and bustle of Christmas”. Thats sounds like something we could all do with this time of year!

Dell Dome at Beach Beat 2011

The Dell Dome was an exciting venue at the 2011 Beach Beat festival where leading technology, gaming and social media was at your grubby festival fingertips. Element domes provided its 36ft (11m) dome in which you could get online, see whether you passed or failed your degree!, Tweet your heart out, Facebook your friends (so they know what they’re missing), skype your grandma (so she knows you miss her), and upload photo’s onto the Dell Digital Festival Experience. Massage? Yes please! That as well! Fun was had by all and it didn’t rain…well, just a little.

Goodwood Festival of speed 2011

The Goodwood Festival of Speed isn’t only about celebrating motoring and motor sport’s glorious past. For 2011, FoS-TECH is enhanced by its move into a series of brand-new, purpose-built geodesic dome structures, to better reflect the hi-tech nature of the exhibits displayed within. Element domes provided three 36ft (11m) satellite domes surrounding the central 60ft (18m) Ultimate BP dome. Most key exhibits will be under cover, enabling Festival visitors to have close, direct access to the displays, with knowledgeable staff in attendance throughout to explain their features and benefits.

We would like to thank the Goodwood event organisers for a fantastic festival. It was a honour to represent Goodwood and BP with our domes, we look forward to Goodwood 2012 where our domes will maintain their presence!

Got to Dance 3

Britain’s biggest dance show, Sky One’s GOT TO DANCE, is back for a third series and Element domes is once again provided their services for the whole tour. Dancers battle it out to win the life-changing sum of a quarter of a million pounds and the chance to become the GOT TO DANCE CHAMPION 2012. Auditions for the show take place in September 2011 in our specially built Dance Domes and are open to all dance acts of any age, style or size.

The tour will visit the three cities, Glasgow, London and Dublin in a hope to find this years champion.

Davina McCall will host the competition, with Ashley Banjo, Kimberley Wyatt and Adam Garcia all returning as Judges.
